COUNTDOWN: It is our undesirable duty to report that an abominable 1,259 days still remain in this horrid administration’s term in office…
Happy Monday, readers! Today’s off-the-charts reactionary CON-servative Republicans, thanks to House Speaker Paul RUIN and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, have all but shut out their minority Democratic Party members 0f any semblance of governance. Yet, even with total control of the federal government by their party, they failed to pass their avowed repeal of “Obamacare” due to the extreme nature of their recent attempt, massive opposition from voters, and resultant in-party squabbles. Of course, these scoundrels, along with Republican President
Donald Chump, immediately tried to blame Democrats for their failure. Such attempts at disingenuousness have become a hallmark of the Tea Party-infested, now reactionary Republicans – they’ve been at it for years. One of their repeated ploys has been to feature themselves on a debate stage with an empty chair beside them, indicating lack of substance or even presence of a Democratic opponent. I recall Mitt Romney employing this foolish tactic in 2012, when he was opposed by, and eventually defeated by, then-President Obama.
As you’ll learn from today’s fabulous podcast, Republican Kenneth Keating employed this questionable tactic, also unsuccessfully, against eventual winner, Democrat Bobby Kennedy, in the New York U.S. Senate race in 1964. Keating had actually locked Bobby out of the debate hall to make sure his [loy would have more impact. That’s the Republican mindset for you – all image and no substance!
In today’s magnificent effort, our master podcaster Burr Deming notes similarities between that 1964 race with the recent failed attempt by current Republicans to repeal Obamacare.
Burr tells us, “Conservatives blame Democrats for their failures in health care repeal.
Democrats might remember Bobby Kennedy and his handling of a faked confrontation over half a century ago.“
