COUNTDOWN: I report, with a huge amount of consternation, that there are still 1,277 days left in this horridly corrupt administration’s term in office…

Republicans, and President Donald Chump in particular, have made numerous futile attempts to “repeal and replace” the Affordable Care Act, aka “Obamacare.” They have discovered, by going back home and facing their constituents, plus by visitors to the Capitol strenuously voicing their disapproval, that there is a lot of opposition to what they want to do – and it has spread discord among their once-unified ranks. Some of these GOP members have found tremendous opposition to the draconian cuts in Medicaid they have proposed. Others are justifiably sheepish about eliminating the ability of those below 26 years of age to remain on their parents’ insurance policies. Still more are incensed by the way the bill’s repeal would enable greedy insurance companies to once more establish bans for those with pre-existing conditions. But nearly all have been surprised by the outrage they have encountered from their constituents, and they are beginning to backpedal a bit, as well they should!

I have absolutely NO sympathy for these corporatists and insurance company shills!

Don’t get me wrong: I am in no way favoring the ACA’s forced mandates, wherein people are forced to sign up with some greedy health insurance company! It is hard for me to fathom why we even need insurance companies to pay for our health services at all: THEY are NOT delivering the medical expertise we need to save lives, improve our quality of life, or guide us through illness. THEY are NOT developing new, lifesaving medicines. THEY are NOT keeping health care costs affordable for regular citizens: in fact, it is THEY who are ADDING to the ever-upward spiral of health care costs with constant increases in premiums and higher deductibles!  😦

It is time to face FACTS here, my friends: this for-profit, health “care” system we have here in the United States is a RIP-OFF designed to make profitable insurance companies even more profitable – at OUR expense! This is NOT the so-called “free market” in action here – this is a gigantic abuse of market freedom! It is INDEFENSIBLE that the heads of major medical insurance companies are paid exorbitant incomes and perks while denying even one person a lifesaving medicine or treatment, or making it so costly for them to receive that they must forgo it altogether! A look at several of these salaries is quite revealing:

  • Cigna CEO David Cordani: $17.3 million. Cordani’s total compensation rose considerably compared to 2014, when he pulled in $14.5 million. …
  • Aetna CEO Mark Bertolini: $17.3 million. …
  • UnitedHealth CEO Stephen Hemsley: $14.5 million. …
  • Anthem CEO Joseph Swedish: $13.6 million. …
  • Humana CEO Bruce Broussard: $10.3 million.

You may recognize many of these companies, if not their CEOs. They dump many millions of YOUR premium dollars into expensive TV ads which plague us all many times each day. Keep in mind: these are just CEO salaries – you can be assured that each member of their Boards of Directors receives a very handsome paycheck as well! Ask yourself: when was the last time YOU received a substantial increase in YOUR annual pay? And why should these gluttonous bastards be compensated so much in the first place?

It is high time we in this country c0mpletely ABANDON this immoral and greed-obsessed for-profit health “care” system; thoroughly DISBAND the gluttonous health care insurance companies altogether; and replace them with a far more cost efficient “Medicare for all” SINGLE-PAYER  system which works perfectly well for ALL of the other countries in the world! I wrote about the myths and lies being distributed by pro-insurance buffoons concerning Single Payer in the March 18, 2016 edition of this blog.  Much of what I wrote then is still valid and applicable today. I would encourage all who doubt this argument to refresh yourself with that entry…

Consider this: Medicare works fine with an overhead of roughly 4%, whereas the greedy health insurance industry requires a minimum of  FIVE to SEVEN times that amount! Why such a huge difference?  The profit motive lies at the root of it all. Insurance companies must pay greatly inflated salaries to attract the “best” CEOs; they rely constantly on expensive advertising campaigns; plus they must pay handsome dividends to their investors or they will lose those funds. A single-payer system relies on NONE of those added costs, and would also keep the much too greedy pharmaceutical companies from horrendously overcharging us the way they do, too!  That is why single-payer  is definitely a far superior system which we should adopt IMMEDIATELY!

We no longer need the archaic for-profit insurance companies to pay our medical expenses for us and then have the gall to charge us dearly for their “services”! Their claims of us having the best medical care system in the world, and how foreigners keep coming here for medical treatment, are largely unfounded. Not only that, but our outcomes for many health categories are NOT top of the line, and surely do NOT justify what we are paying for them! After all, people living in single-payer systems in other countries are hardly dropping dead on the streets of their cities from lack of proper medical care, nor are they paying 400 – 500 times our tax rate for their systems! They are simply getting their money’s worth on health care because they have ELIMINATED a for-profit health care system, something WE should be doing as well!

Liar-in-chief Donald Chump  came our forcefully against single-payer recently. He is instead urging immediate repeal of “Obamacare”. Like almost all of his stances and agenda, this, too, is a very reckless recommendation which MUST be rejected by ALL who hold political office! After all, the non-partisan CBO has found that 32 MILLION people will lose access to health care if Obamacaew is repealed and then replaced by the Republican-sponsored, pro-insurance industry plan which has been put forth.

I  STRONGLY encourage you to attend all local gatherings or town hall meetings your Congressperson or Senator may be appearing at over the next few weeks – especially if they are Republicans – and let them know in no uncertain terms that YOU NOW FAVOR THE ADOPTION OF A “MEDICARE FOR ALL, SINGLE-PAYER SYSTEM” to be enacted IMMEDIATELY in this country! We have got to stop this insanity of health insurance companies robbing us blind NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am an American Dissident trapped in a country where poor and middle class people are constantly being exploited and lied to by a very rigid and conservative plutocratic elite. I believe in government OF, FOR, and BY the people, not one controlled as it now is by corporations and special interests.
