WHY CONGRESS SELDOM ACTS IN YOUR BEST INTERESTS! {Part One of an Intermittent Series}

May 4, 2017  By Jack Jodell, American Dissident, N.M.P.

COUNTDOWN: As of today, only 1,358 days remain in this horrid administration’s term in office…

“The accumulation of all powers, legislative, executive, and judiciary, in the same hands, whether of one, a few, or many, and whether hereditary, self-appointed, or elective, may justly be pronounced the very definition of tyranny.”
– James Madison –

“Government by organized money is just as dangerous as government by organized mob.”
– Franklin D. Roosevelt –

I have long been strongly against the amassed economic, social, and political power now present in big business and corporations. They exert an anti-democracy, confirmist influence I find to be extremely oppressive. While espousing “freedom” they actually practice its opposite, exercising undue monopolistic control over far too much in our society, economy, and its government.

People often express dismay and frustration over the fact that Congress so often legislates for the benefit of Wall Street  and major corporations while all-too-often ignoring Main Street and regular citizens. Why, for example, do we not yet have a single-payer health care system, like all other civilized nations have, and why do we not begin a massive infrastructure program to rebuild our crumbling roads and bridges? Today, thanks to information provided at the fabulous website Open Secrets.org, I will begin an intermittent series exposing exactly how bought-out, corrupt, and compromised our CON-servative Republican controlled government really is and why so much of their focus and attention goes to the wishes of special interests rather than YOU.

I will, in this series, focus mainly on Republicans, as they are now the party in power, but on occasion I will also focus on some loathsome, compromised Democrats. NONE of these people should be on the public payroll, and it is a crime that our tax  dollars should be wasted on such corrupt shills!

  1. Senate Majority Leader MITCH McCONNELL of Kentucky. This worthless constipated turtle of a shill keeps getting reelected despite having perrenial low approval ratings. As you will see below, he is being propped up by big money, not regular voters. For the period from 2011 – 2016, this charlatan raised $30,167,647; spent $30,259,654, and, due to previous campaigns, still has cash on hand of more than $925,000 as of 12/31/16.
Top 5 Contributors in that time were
    Blackstone Group $217,700
    Goldman Sachs $118,425
    Kindred Healthcare $104,650
    Humana Inc $103,300
    NorPAC $100,151
    Top Industries
    Securities & Investment $2,389,987
    Oil & Gas $1,170,884
    Lawyers/Law Firms $1,056,414
    Health Professionals $1,008,295
    ————————–
SENATE MAJORITY WHIP JOHN CORNYN of Texas. Cornyn, again from the period 2011 – 2016, raised $31.8 MILLION, spent $32 MILLION, and, once more due to previous election campaigns, has more than $2.8 MILLION
to spend. His top 5 donors were a GOP PAC called Voteshare, at more than $63,200; Exxon Mobil at more than $60,000; Medmax, Inc. at greater than 457,400; AT & T, with more than $57,200; and Valero Energy, which gave him more than $57,400. His top industry donors were
    Investments abd Securities   $1.18 MILLION
    Oil and Gas  $1.3 MILLION
    Health Professionals  4826,000 +, and
    Lawyers
    and law firms $ 4669,999 +.
    ——————————-
For the House of Representatives, we have Speaker of the House PAUL RUIN (RYAN), who, in the 2015 – 2016 election cycle, raised an ungodly $19.8 MILLION and still has cash on hand of an astounding $9.08 MILLION! His top
    donors were, not surprisingly,
    Bank of America, at $85,600
    Nike, Inc., at $70,300
    Blackstone Group  $68,000
    Pfizer, Inc.  $63,200

    Apple, Inc.  $62,800
    The top donor industries were:
Securities and Investment, which donated $1.7 MILLION
    Real Estate, at $982,000, and
Insurance, at $657,000. That may explain why he offered up the failed American Health Care Act earlier this year…
    ——————-
Majority Whip STEVE SCALISE, of Louisiana, who raised $4.8 MILLION and still has $455,000 + cash on hand. His major contributors included
    GOP PAC Voteshare at $ 700,000 +
    Entergy Corp. $40,500
    Microsoft $39,000
    Hess, Inc.  %35,600
Blue Cross/Blue Shield  $35,500, plus his top industry givers were
    Insurance $338,900
    Oil and Gas $337,300
    Real Estate  $306,100
    Securities and Investment  $255,100
    —————–
Majority Leader KEVIN McCARTHY of CA. This extreme CON-servative and bitterly partisan shill raised a ridiculous $11.8 MILLION and spent $11.6 MILLION in the last election cycle. Yet he still has a war chest of 2.7 MILLION left over from previous campaigns. A darling to Wall Street banks, McCarthy’s top donors included: Goldman Sachs at $125,600
    Altura Group  $100,300
    Federatws Investors, Inc.  $78,400
    Capital Group  $69,100
Zurich Financial Services  $68,500, and his top industries were:
Securities and Investments, at $1.2 MILLION,
    Real Estate  $841,000
    Insurance  $579,600
    Pharmaceuticals / Health Professionals  $488,300
    ———————————————————————————————————————
Last, but far from least, is the Chair of Policy Committee LUKE MESSER of IN. Another run of the mill CON-servative Republican from a red state, Messer, a relative newcomer to Congress, raised $2 MILLION and spent $1.4 MILLION. His top donors included:
    Cgs Services  $30,200
    Silverius Insurance Group  $26,300
    Honeywell Intl.  $23,000
    Centaur Group  $22,700
    Home Depot  $20,000
    His top contributing industries were:
    Insurance   $242,200
    Securities and Investment   $140,000
    Real Estate  $97,300
    Manufacturing and Distributing  $75,400
    ——————–
That will do it for this first segment. As you have seen, there is an awful lot of commercial money being used to basically bribe these Republican leaders. Isn’t it definitely high time we GET MONEY OUT OF POLITICS and stop giving this unjustified advantage to the wealthy and their corporations? I say our best course would be to VOTE THESE SHILLS OUT OF OFFICE PERMANENTLY beginning in 2018 and continuing through the 2020 and 2022 elections! We have GOT to start leveling the playing field for average voters and start securing some iconic justice for workers and the poor!

About jackjodell53

I am an American Dissident trapped in a country where poor and middle class people are constantly being exploited and lied to by a very rigid and conservative plutocratic elite. I believe in government OF, FOR, and BY the people, not one controlled as it now is by corporations and special interests.
