“This is a man’s world, but it wouldn’t mean nothin’ without a woman or a girl.”
– James Brown and Betty Jean Newsome, from the 1966 hit song “It’s A Man’s Man’s Man’s World”

smug trump..After watching four nights of the Tea Party-infested reactionary Republicans spout out nothing but hatred and fear during their convention, (now led by a self-centered snooty sociopath named Donald Trump), it became crystal clear to me that he must NOT be allowed to occupy the White House under any circumstances! ANY person who would gloat over how the horrible 2008 Great Recession was going to be great for his business, as Trump so selfishly did, is definitely short-sighted and far too ignorant to be put on the public payroll. Furthermore, he is completely undeserving of political support! This bombastic buffoon, the very deserving winner of last December’s Bozo of the Year Award for 2015 in this blog, spews out hatred and scorn for women, immigrants, refugees, African-Americans, Hispanics, and “foreigners” in general, while expressing admiration for the likes of Saddam Hussein, Benito Mussolini, and Vladimir Putin. Trump has unbelievably even encouraged the Russian government to hack into Hillary Clinton’s email accounts to find something to smear her with! This unprecedented and extremely sordid behavior proves that he is rash, reckless, and VERY dangerous: UN-American in both his beliefs and his methodology! Trump, a predator capitalist whose phony “Trump University” preyed on the elderly and vulnerable strictly for profit for HIM,  is completely unqualified for, and undeserving of, the presidency.

HILLARY R 3While Trump has spent his entire adult life adding to his personal wealth and building great hotels and towers bearing his name for all the world to see and admire, his opponent in this year’s presidential election, Hillary Clinton, has spent nearly her entire adult life in service to others. She has pioneered low-cost legal services for the poor during her days as First Lady in Arkansas, transformed and vastly improved that state’s educational system, and, later, as a U.S. Senator from New York, created universal access to health care for children, working across the aisle with Republican Tom DeLay to accomplish the latter. Now THAT’s leadership!

While Clinton was engaged in all of this, Trump was involving himself in numerous bankruptcies, forcing many who worked for him to settle for mere pennies on the dollar of what he actually owed them. That is NOT effective or thoughtful leadership!

SANDERSAnother tireless leader who has unselfishly devoted his entire career to helping others has been the fabulous Senator from Vermont, Bernie Sanders.   As those who have been reading this blog know, I initially strongly supported his bid for the Democratic nomination. Like many who also support him, I was drawn to his stances for economic fairness and social justice, and I was very impressed with his campaign to actively involve millions of people who had never before been involved in their government. He came close to attaining that coveted nomination, but fell short. Still, he has created a beneficial revolution within the Democratic Party which has renewed their commitment to aiding the less fortunate as well as millions of working people all across the nation. He has encouraged all his supporters to join him in electing Hillary Clinton President – denying this trophy to the very self-centered Trump – and I once again support him in this endeavor.

SARAHWhile a number of his rabid supporters have expressed a refusal to back the Democratic nominee, I believe Sarah Silverman had it right when she declared Monday night that “Bernie or bust people, you’re being ridiculous!” For it is clear to me, just as it is to Bernie Sanders and Sarah Silverman, that Donald Trump must be defeated at all costs!

I would like to remind those who say they will now now not vote or will instead vote for vanity candidates like Green Party candidate Jill Stein, who have absolutely no chance of winning, that we can’t always get everything we want in an election, and that we must therefore settle for the most suitable alternative, that being Hillary Clinton, rather than catastrophically ceding the White House to a sociopathic Donald Trump.

HILLARY RIt is therefore time for ALL of us to unite behind Hillary Clinton, as Bernie Sanders himself has advised us to do, and that is what I also urge us to do. Bernie has pushed both Clinton and the Democratic Party a long way away from its neoliberal moorings. Besides, there will never be a perfect candidate , so what we must always do is rally around the one which will provide us with the most good, and/or will do us the least harm. In this case, the choice is very clear: HILLARY CLINTON! Not only is she the best, most experienced, and most pragmatic choice, but, after more than two centuries, it is high time we put some estrogen into the White House: we’ve had an overdose of testosterone. Let’s enable Hillary to break that highest of glass ceilings, shall we? Trump proves that we could do far, FAR worse!

About jackjodell53

I am an American Dissident trapped in a country where poor and middle class people are constantly being exploited and lied to by a very rigid and conservative plutocratic elite. I believe in government OF, FOR, and BY the people, not one controlled as it now is by corporations and special interests.

Great blog post, Jack. You got it goin’ on as a writer, political thinker and unifier!

    • jackjodell53 says:

Thanks, Val. Donald Trump is a vicious and heartless sociopath whose megalomania is not only dangerous but thoroughly disgusting as well. He must be STOPPED cold!

Great post as always. I wouldn’t put Hillary in the “do the least harm” category however. The future of the Supreme court for the next two decades is going to be decided in the next four years. It’s not a question of doing the least harm it is the question of who will do the most good. Lest anyone fall into the trap of a false equivalency between Trump and Hillary, let us not forget that Supreme Court decisions affect us all and are not open to challenge. Whether it’s health care, women’s rights, civil rights, treating corporations as individuals, voting rights, etc, the Court over the next four years will set the rules for at least a generation. That is too important to say that this election is voting for the lesser to two evils. Hillary is not “less bad” than Trump. She is our only chance in this election to move forward with a Supreme Court that has the chance to be a reasonable collection of judges. That issue alone makes this a choice between walking on level ground or stepping off into the abyss. That is not a “do the least harm” choice.
If people who consider themselves progressive/Bernie or bust/socialist (or whatever) cannot see that as an easy choice, then we as a country will get the leadership we deserve. It will be selfish, myopic and self destructive. And it will reflect the country it leads.
Sorry for seeming angry, Jack. This just burns my ass to no ends.

Hi Michael – good to hear from you again, as always. You never need apologize to me, as I know you are a well-reasoned thinker and a fair man. I wrote this post mainly to corral in the “Bernie or Bust” crowd, as I believe, just as you do, that Trump would appoint the ghastliest of justices to SCOTUS, and to encourage these disaffected Bernie supporters to swallow their Hillary hatred and hold their nose if necessary to keep that malignant megalomaniac Trump from ever getting near the White House. I have long strongly supported Bernie myself, but the risk of a Trump presidency with all its consequences is far too dangerous for disaffected Bernie people to waste their vote on a meaningless protest candidate. Hillary is by no means perfect, but, in my humble opinion, she is INFINITELY much, MUCH better than a diseased, sociopathic Trump! Didn’t mean to rile you up, my friend, and my apologies to you if I did. Trump MUST BE DEFEATED – I agree wholeheartedly!!!!

      • Michael Hew says:

Absolutely not mad at you, Jack. That could never happen. I’ll try to make it to the radio show on Sunday. I’d love to talk to you guys about it.

  3. jackjodell53 says:

Great, Michael, but we’ll have to wait until Aug. 7’s show, as there won’t be one this week. Look forward to talking with you then.
