Ayg. 12, 2015  By Jack Jodell.

The Republican 2016 White House hopefuls held two debates last week. One was for those who polled the least in public opinion polls, and the other was for the 10 who pulled the most. Neither category yielded a suitable candidate, to the surprise of but a few 9f us living in the real world.

Republican presidential candidates arrive on stage for the Republican presidential debate on August 6, 2015 at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio. From left are: New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie; Florida Sen. Marco Rubio; retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson; Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker; real estate magnate Donald Trump; former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush; former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee; Texas Sen. Ted Cruz; Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul; and Ohio Gov. John Kasich. AFP PHOTO / MANDEL NGAN (Photo credit should read MANDEL NGAN/AFP/Getty Images)

These candidates neither understand, nor do they even care about, the most pressing issues facing the overwhelming majority of voters today. While Fox “News” commentators did their best to try and convince us they were asking “tough” questions, that effort was belied by the fact that they never once asked about the most vitally important topics. No, in their zeal to portray themselves as probing, relevant journalists (which neither Chris Wallace, Megyn Kelly, nor Bret Baier really are), they failed to ask about each candidate’s proposals to repair and renew our crumbling infrastructure; or how to restore a vibrant and growing middle class; or how to control the ever-rising cost of higher education, which is currently enriching banks while turning our young students into debt slaves; or how to combat the very real threat of climate change; or how to stop and even reverse our rapidly-rising disparity in wealth; or how to restore the civil liberties we have lost under both Presidents Bush and Obama; or how to curtail the power and influence of the military/industrial complex GOP President Dwight Eisenhower warned us about way back in 1961; or  how we should be concentrating on campaign finance reform; or how  we will deal with the growing threat of nuclear contamination from the huge amount of radiation still leaking into the North Pacific from the damaged Fukushima reactor in Japan; or how to prevent the next oil drilling disaster in the Arctic or elsewhere; or how to solve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict; or how to stop murderous police activity bring directed against blacks and Hispanics; (and what their opinion was about Black Lives Matter);  or how to turn our energy consumption away from fossil fuels and toward other new, sustainable forms of energy that are safer and less damaging to our environment?

These are but a few of the many topics these candidates could have, and really should have, been asked to address. Because they weren’t, though, the candidates never did so.  By substituting eoftball questions dealing with other, far less vital issues, Fox “News” and the debaters themselves sold us miserably short. For this reason, NONE of them will have my support or my vote!

Remarkably enough, though, most of those pressing issues are being met head-on by candidate BERNIE SANDERS. That is why HE will have both my support and my vote for President in 2016! See for yourself by going to https://berniesanders.com/issues/.  Here is a man who has consistently campaigned on these common sense and fair themes for his entire 30+ year career in public life. He can definitely be trusted and is truly deserving of our support!

About jackjodell53

I am an American Dissident trapped in a country where poor and middle class people are constantly being exploited and lied to by a very rigid and conservative plutocratic elite. I believe in government OF, FOR, and BY the people, not one controlled as it now is by corporations and special interests.
