“SEDITION: incitement of resistance to or insurrection against lawful authority”

That is the definition of the term sedition, as listed in the Merriam Webster dictionary. According to the Lectric Law Library, this definition is offered:
“Conduct which is directed against a government and which tends toward insurrection but does not amount to treason. Treasonous conduct consists of levying war against the United States or of adhering to its enemies, giving them aid and comfort.
The raising commotions or disturbances in the state; it is a revolt against legitimate authority.
The distinction between sedition and treason consists in this, that though its ultimate object is a violation of the public peace, or at least such a course of measures as evidently engenders it, yet it does not aim at direct and open violence against the laws, or the subversion of the Constitution. The. obnoxious and obsolete act of July 14, 1798, was called the sedition law, because its professed object was to prevent disturbances. In the Scotch law, sedition is either verbal or real. Verbal is inferred from the uttering of words tending to create discord between the king and his people; real sedition is generally committed by convocating together any considerable number of people, without lawful authority, under the pretence of redressing some public grievance, to the disturbing of the public peace.”

Each of the following persons listed below has, in my opinion, recently engaged in near-seditious behavior. See if you agree, and please tell me your opinion as to what should be done with each of them either separately, or together.

This person, born into wealth and educated in the best schools; a well-known media personality in his own right who loves to practice winning through intimidation, has repeatedly insisted that the President’s birth certificate is fraudulent and/or missing, even though he has been proven wrong with the release of the President’s official birth certificate last year by the state of Hawaii. He is obviously attempting to create suspicion about the President in an election year, in hopes that it will provide votes for the opposing candidate. In the process, he is needlessly stirring up  controversy where none should exist. Who is this blowhard, and why should he be allowed to continue his clear abuse of the First Amendment?

This person, also born into comparative wealth but who dropped out of college very early due to irresponsible immaturity and lack of self-discipline, is also a bully and a well-known media personality. He is so influential, in fact, that no Republican dares to challenge or cross him, for those who choose to do so soon pay the price. This blowhard has spent an entire generation lambasting other public figures, especially popular progressive, liberal businesspersons and politicians. He continually stretches the truth beyond the breaking point and has constantly incited others to hate the President, whom he has referred to as a racist. He has even stooped so low as to publicly attack the poor, rape victims, and even individual college students! Who is this disruptive, overbearing  bag of hot air, and why is he, too, allowed to  abuse the First Amendment by irrespobsibly shooting his moith off and spewing hatred against the President and Congress?

This person, raised in wealth and comfort as the result of being the only son of a very high-up and well-to-do major corporation executive, has skated blissfully through life and has never experienced a broke or hungry day in that entire life. Yet he is viciously opposed to any government aid of any sort being given to the needy, and basically hates the government having any power or influence at all. He has made it his lifelong quest to defund and starve the federal government to the point where  “it can be drowned in the bathtub”  and done away with almost entirely. He has said he favors a return to the type of federal government we had “up until Teddy Roosevelt, when the socialists took over. The income tax, the death tax, regulation, all that.” He has attempted to achieve this by getting legislators in all branches of government to sign a pledge agreeing to oppose any and all tax increases under any circumstances, under pain of being opposed in the next primary election. How is it that this son of privilege can be allowed to walk around freely, trying to destroy the government, in clear abuse of his First Amendment rights?

These two, the very rich sons and inheritors of a former wealthy energy executive’s business empire, have dedicated their lives and now their fortunes to eradicating the power of the federal government to regulate business in any way. Massive polluters, deniers of climate change,   and opponents of all forms of green energy themselves, these two have ramped up their drive to cynically subvert the electoral process by donating millions and millions of dollars to like-minded political candidates all across the country. They have even funded and organized bus tours to disrupt opposing candidates’ local meetings and to provide hired, on-the-ground help to ensure that the vote gets out in support of the candidates of their choice. They hold twice-yearly secret meetings to draw together similar-minded libertarian and reactionary candidates and businesspersons to raise funds, set goals, and determine modes of future action including, but not limited to, massive propaganda ad campaigns. In the process, they are actively pursuing a subversive attempt to buy off candidates and interefere with elections nationwide. In doing so, they are going to unprecedented and vastly overreaching lengths to realize their sordid, selfish aims. The fact that these two are allowed to operate as stealthily as they do does not bode well for the future of fairness for all or true democracy in this country!

PERSON NO. 1 IS DONALD TRUMP. This egomaniac is obsessed with being in the limelight and pushing his considerable weight around. He is a coward who revels in his ability to say “You’re fired!” on his TV show and loves to let the world see him as the epitome of wealth , even though he has bankrupted his business empire several times.

PERSON NO. 2 IS RUSH LIMBAUGH, the extremely egocentric big fat bully of talk radio. He has not only made ridiculously untrue claims on his show, but has regularly and repeatedly made grossly insensitive remarks about nearly everyone he has focused on over the years. He has no grasp of truth or decency, and it is a miracle he has not yet been assaulted and/or battered by somebody.

PERSON NO. 3 IS GROVER NORQUIST. This hater of all things governmental is the epitome of the unseeing, uncaring, self-preoccupied snob. Having vast wealth isn’t good enough for this spoiled son-of-privilege: he wants it ALL, including what the federal government takes from him in taxes. When asked once if the only way to save his grandmother’s life would be to raise taxes, he immediately blurted out, “I would have to be content with warm memories.” What a self-centered pill!

Last, but definitely not least, would be the diabolically evil KOCH BROTHERS, DAVID AND  CHARLES. These men would employ nearly any sneaky tactic to buy off public officials or tilt an election in their favor to ensure the maximization of profit for any of their companies. They  would like to push us back to the 1890s politically, when robber barons ruled the land, workers had no freedom, and the government was weak abd beholden to big business.

Although it would be nice to have each of these buffoons locked up for long terms in prison on grounds of sedition, according to the legal definition of that term, each falls narrowly short of the mark. After all, while each is engaged in various degrees of sordid, near-subversive behavior, none are really calling for the actual overthrow of the government.  Still, though, based on the common trait of their indefensible and illogical hatred of either the President or the federal government, these extremely self-centered people do represent a very real danger to our democratic traditions. None of these pampered rich boys has any desire or ability to see beyond his own nose, and all are oblivious to the very real needs and concerns which face the majority 99% of their fellow citizens on a daily basis.  What do YOU think should be done with these blind and ignorant persons of interest, readers?

About jackjodell53

I am an American Dissident trapped in a country where poor and middle class people are constantly being exploited and lied to by a very rigid and conservative plutocratic elite. I believe in government OF, FOR, and BY the people, not one controlled as it now is by corporations and special interests.

  1. They all are part of the price of our freedoms and democracy. Shut them up and the list between them and us becomes shorter.

    • jackjodell53 says:

Thanks, Jerry—interesting way to look at it. They come at such a horrible cost, though, don’t they? 😦

      • Yes, the cost is high, higher than it should be because people actually believe them instead of laughing at them for what they say. Comedy and entertainment should not be confused with truth.

  2. jackjodell53 says:

    Jerry, I couldn’t agree more!

  3. Grung_e_Gene says:

Jack they’ve bought this country back and they aren’t going to let even the mildest of liberals dent their increasingly Iron Grip, which the Plutocracy has on the throats of the 99%.

    • jackjodell53 says:

Good to hear from you again, and I guess there will have to eventually be a new revolution…

  4. Terry says:

In Grover Nordquist’s situation, I don’t see how it is constitutional for a congressman to have greater allegiance to a non-government pledge than his Constitutional oath of office. I have never understood how Limbaugh is allowed to be on the airwaves. I also don’t understand how a campaigner can deliberately lie about an opponent and be allowed to continue to campaign. Somehow Trump is a successful businessman, but he has to know that he is lying about President Obama. You don’t talk about Roberts, but how is it right for people to anonymously donate money to a super pac when the campaigns are suppose to be transparent?

    • jackjodell53 says:

Thanks for stopping by and leaving your very well-reasoned comment. I don’t understand any of this nonsense either, that is why I believe each of these selfish little rich boys should be jailed for something, because they are definitely not acting in the public interest!

  5. JollyRoger says:

I disagree with Jerry. These guys have repeatedly done the nationwide equivalent of screaming “FIRE!!!” in a crowded theater. They are at least partially responsible for the Jarrod Loguhners among us, and their body count continues to rise.
There ought to be a price to pay for this, IMHO.

    • jackjodell53 says:

      Jolly Roger,
I understand where you’re coming from. Their irresponsibility, albeit protected by the 1st Amendment, is so blatantly offensive to almost make one want to modify that same amendment. They are playing the public for chumps, and we’re directly or indirectly letting them get away with it. These are times that try men’s souls.

  6. Lee Malcolm says:

Congress repealed the Sedition Act on December 13, 1920. What else ya got?

  7. Michael says:

I like to hear them speak freely because they are good barometers of the truth. Take the opposing view and you are usually on the correct side of the argument.

  8. Mona Ross says:

Please check for spelling and typos, it makes for a more convincing argument, which I agree with. Glen Beck has recommended that his followers stock up on firearms. Please add him to the list.

    • jackjodell53 says:

Thanks, Mona. I wrote and posted that in the middle of the night on election night and was dead tired and in a hurry to get it posted.
