THE PATRIOTIC MILLIONAIRES: IN THEIR OWN WORDS!

By Jack Jodell, Aug. 25, 2011

“If a free society cannot help the many who are poor, it cannot save the few who are rich.”
– President John F. Kennedy –

“Rich people are not the CAUSE of a robust economy; they’re the RESULT of a robust economy!”
– Ron Garret, Entrepreneur –

“We shouldn’t be wallowing in our riches while everybody else is suffering.”
– Frank Jernigan, Former Senior Software Engineer at Google –

My last two posts have featured a letter sent to all congressional Republicans from an amazing group of 200 American millionaires who call themselves “The Patriotic Millionaires.” THEY ARE CLAMORING TO HAVE THEIR TAXES RAISED! They have called on the Republicans and Tea Partiers to abandon their ridiculous pledge to that trust-funder rich boy Grover Norquist not to raise taxes. They have also exposed the last 30+ years of Republican “free market, trickle-down” economics for the harmful FRAUD it has actually been. Click on the links below to hear some of these millionaires explain why they sent this letter, IN THEIR OWN WORDS:

HAVE YOU BEEN LISTENING AND WATCHING, TEA PARTIERS? HAVE YOU BEEN LISTENING AND WATCHING, ERIC CANTOR? OR JOHN BOEHNER? OR MITCH McCONNELL? OR DICK ARMEY? OR GROVER NORQUIST? OR GEORGE W. BUSH? OR PAT BUCHANAN? OR MITT ROMNEY? MICHELE BACHMANN? RICK PERRY? ALLEN WEST? GLENN BECK? SEAN HANNITY? BILL O’REILLY? DICK CHENEY? RUPERT MURDOCH? ROGER AILES? MIKE HUCKABEE? TIM PAWLENTY? PAUL RYAN? RUSH LIMBAUGH? LOUIE GOMERT? HERMAN CAIN? THE KOCH BROTHERS? HEDGE-FUND MANAGERS?  OR ANY OF YOU OTHER NUMBSKULL PROPONENTS OF  NO TAX INCREASES OR FREE MARKET, “TRICKLE-DOWN” ECONOMICS?

About jackjodell53

I am an American Dissident trapped in a country where poor and middle class people are constantly being exploited and lied to by a very rigid and conservative plutocratic elite. I believe in government OF, FOR, and BY the people, not one controlled as it now is by corporations and special interests.

  1. Tom Harper says:

Excellent quotes. I doubt if the people mentioned in your last paragraph will ever listen, but hopefully some others will come around.

  2. jackjodell53 says:

Thanks, Tom. I agree, and as I’ve said for a long time, it only matters if the Independents listen and vote against all the Teapublicans.

  3. Boehner, Cantor, McConnell and their ilk will never change their tune. It’s all they know and all they want to know. What’s more, it’s what has gotten them to positions of wealth and power. It’s what the millionaires and billionaires who fund their campaigns and the right-wing noise machine want to hear. One might as well ask McDonald’s to go vegetarian or Starbucks to forsake coffee for Instant Postum.

That crowd will never give up or change. The only answer is to overwhelm them at election time and keep the levers of power of out their hands.

      S.W.,
That is exactly what I am counting on for 2012—most of these stooges going down to defeat, or at least enough of them to strip Boehner and Cantor of the pulpits they have been screeching so loudly from this year. The Teapublicans are going to lose control of the House for having been so extreme and obstructionist, and that will restore a semblace of sanity to things and relegate idiots like Cantor back to minority status, which is exactly where he belongs. The public is so disenchanted with the Republicans, I don’t think even Rove/Koch brothers money will be able to save them.

      • Jack, my friend, the sentiments you’re expressing are exactly what I believed heading into the 2004 election. So much was known by so many about what an incompetent, perverse, corrupt jerk George W. Bush was, and what a rotten bunch of SOB’s he had filled his administration with, I was sure voters would send him back to Crawford. And by contrast, John Kerry was such an intelligent, sensible, dedicated, clean politician with a solid record as a war veteran and public servant, I believed there was no way Bush could win a second term. I went through that election night believing Kerry had won. But he didn’t.

That taught me to never underestimate American voters’ capacity to be swayed by sliming, dirty tricks, attack ads, and the like. It also taught me to never take winning an election for granted, especially where Democrats are concerned. They’re legendary for their ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory for good reason, unfortunately.

Polls right now show the GOP, especially the so-called tea partyers, in the doghouse. That’s encouraging, but in politics a month is a long time, and 15 months is eternity. Those of us who want these people voted out must not be too sure of anything or take anything for granted.

    S.W.,
I couldn’t agree with you more. Democrats have snatched defeat from the jaws of victory MANY times. 1988 is another perfect example. This time, though, voter dissatisfaction with the GOP and tea crowd is SO deep, and their shock and disapproval of the Scott Walkers-John Kasiches-Rick Scotts of the far right SO widespread, and with the Republicans offering NOTHING except more stalling and very very little by way of their candidates, they will never emerge from 2012 with anything resembling a majority. Nonetheless, we cannot rest and let them steal elections from us while we sit idly by.

HAVE YOU BEEN LISTENING AND WATCHING, TEA PARTIERS? Probably not because their mind is already made up and they have no room for facts. We might as well not waste our breath nor our time on this set of deadbeats. What they ‘believe’ is the truth and no amount of logic or reasoning [or facts] will change their ideological firmness.

  6. jackjodell53 says:

Right, mudrake. Our only hope is that enough Democrats and Independents WILL listen and vote against those morons.
