I am joining with The Daily Kos in asking you to HELP STOP VERIZON’S WARFARE ON THE MIDDLE CLASS! This giant behemoth has become far too big for its britches and has now DECLARED WAR on its 45,000 STRIKING MIDDLE CLASS WORKERS!

Verizon workers are striking to protest the OUTLANDISH, PIGGISH GREED of its despicable board of directors. These workers are thoroughly justified in their decision to strike. Consider this:

1). VERIZON MADE $6 BILLION in profits last year.
2). They paid their vastly-overpaid board of directors a total of $258 MILLION over the past four years!
3). Verizon is now asking its workers to pay $6,800 EACH going forward to cover increased health insurance costs! Such a draconian move would knock MANY of those workers OUT of the middle class altogether. That is NOT progress!

Pushing vastly increased health care costs entirely onto the backs of its employees, especially during this time of tight credit and lowered disposable income, WHILE THE COMPANY ITSELF AND ALL OF ITS EXECUTIVES ARE AWASH IN CASH, is IMMORAL. It is also indefensible! It is one more example of an arrogant, entrenched oligarchy launching unprovoked war against the middle class and firing this undeserved and un-asked-for salvo of artillery right directly at them! This, my friends, is the deceitfully-entitled “free market” economics in deadly action. Such a blatant attack CANNOT be allowed to go unchallenged!

The time has come for we progressives to FIRE BACK in solidarity with these afflicted workers. Verizon CANNOT be allowed to get away with this! For if they are successful in this outrageous attempt to neglect their responsibility to their own labor force by imposing this sudden, draconian cost increase all at once upon them, other companies, INCLUDING THE ONE YOU WORK FOR, may soon follow suit! Fortunately, we do have a few options”

1). Click on and sign the Daily Kos solidarity petition.
2). WITHHOLD PAYMENT ON YOUR VERIZON BILL THIS MONTH – or, better yet – dump them altogether and sign up for service with one of their competitors: AT&T; Sprint/Nextel (including Boost Mobile, and Virgin Mobile); US Cellular; Metro PCS; MobileUSA; Leap Wireless (including Cricket Communications and Jump Mobile); or Revol Wireless.

Middle class workers and their unions are under assault all over the country by greedy corporate bastards like the executives at Verizon. The time has now come for workers, and WE THE PUBLIC to fire a few volleys back and give these pigs an actual taste of the “class warfare” they are always accusing US of, but that THEY THEMSELVES have started to implement against US long ago! Taking one or both of the steps outlined above will get their attention and let them know WE WILL NO LONGER BE BULLIED INTO SUBMISSION!

About jackjodell53

I am an American Dissident trapped in a country where poor and middle class people are constantly being exploited and lied to by a very rigid and conservative plutocratic elite. I believe in government OF, FOR, and BY the people, not one controlled as it now is by corporations and special interests.

Glad you posted this. I signed it yesterday through an e-mail from somebody at DailyKos.

My ISP is a small-medium size company. They’re large enough to have state-of-the-art equipment and lots of employees, but not big enough to be too big for their britches. If I was using Verizon I’d definitely dump them.

Way to go, Tom! It’s getting so bad out there, we just HAVE to make a stand. For years, these damn corporations have outsourced our jobs and factories, rolled back or increased the cost of our benefits, and cut or froze our wages. Our productivity has shot upward, our hours have increased (but not our vacation time), and boards of directors’ salaries have shot through the roof. ENOUGH OF THIS BULLSHIT—IT’S TIME FOR A MASSIVE STRIKE!

  2. JollyRoger says:

I don’t understand why anyone would use Verizon for anything. The way they treat their customers tells you volumes about what it must be like for their employees.

  3. jackjodell53 says:

Good point, Jolly Roger. Verizon typifies your greedy, uncaring, arrogant, self-centered corporation perfectly, and that’s why I am encouraging all their subscribers to go elsewhere until this strike is settled favorably for their workers!
