“Laissez-faire capitalism is just as hard on and bad for most people as Soviet-style communism…”  – S.W. Anderson, of Oh!pinion –

Progressives, we are under assault. Everywhere you look,  “free-market” conservative Republicans and Tea Paty activists are trying, and are in many cases succeeding,  in rolling back the many reforms and gains made by our workers and middle class since the 1930s! Now, more than at any time in years, it is absolutely essential that we stand up tall and strong and resist this reactionary attempt to force this country backward in time against its will!

It wasn’t good enough for them to just shut down entire plants here and send them along with our jobs to China, India, Bangladesh, or Mexico. It wasn’t good enough for them to take all the profits gained from the huge productivity increases this country had during the 1990s for themselves. It wasn’t good enough for them to freeze and roll back our wages to make American workers have to compete with the slave-labor wages they pay in many of those foreign countries. No, now these oligarchs and plutocrats who have bought out the entire Republican Party and a sizable share of the Democratic one as well want to destroy labor unions, do away with child labor laws, defund Planned Parenthood, defund National Public Radio, and force-feed us their system of socialism for the rich but crappy capitalism for all the rest of us.

None of us have the wallets to match the deep pockets of the greedy, misguided billionaire Koch brothers, but together we CAN and MUST stand up to them and do what we can to resist them!

I received an urgent e-mail plea for funds from a progressive publication called AlterNet today.  It stated,

“We need the fiercest, most effective push back to the rabid right-wing propaganda campaign, because they are winning. If we are not more effective at spreading progressive values and ideas, the future will be very dark indeed…Nobel Prize-winning economist Joseph Stiglitz estimates that we spend approximately $16 BILLION a MONTH in Afghanistan, roughly equivalent to how much it would cost to employ 262,500 tTEACHERS; provide 1,995,000 CHILDREN with daycare; and COVER THE HEALTH CARE COSTS FOR 5 MILLION PEOPLE — and this is just ONE MONTH!

Stopping the excessive waste and moral failure of our endless wars is the challenge of our lives. If we can’t change our priorities,  there is no light at the end of the tunnel. We at AlterNet take up this fight each and every day. Nothing is more important. Your financial contribution will support a new Activism editor, and our intense efforts toward dismantling the U.S. empire, which will be our highest priority.

P.S. AlterNet is a 501(c)(3) organization and your contribution today is 100% tax-deductible.IT’S HIGH TIME WE ALL STOOD UP AND FOUGHT BACK, PROGRESSIVES, AND EACH OF US MAKING A DONATION TO ALTERNET IS ONE GOOD WAY – TELL YOUR FRIENDS, TOO!

Progressive ladies and gentlemen, I have repeatedly urged you to GET INVOLVED IN SOME SMALL  WAY, by caucusing as a PEOPLE’S PARTY delegate at your next local Democratic Party caucus, writing letters to the editor of your newspaper, calling or writing a letter to your Congressperson,  or in some other vital but MEANINGFUL WAY LIKE DONATING TO THIS GREAT PROGRESSIVE CAUSE! If you can’t get the link above to work, please go to the site itself, which is found at There you can click to donate securely, and your name will NEVER be given to any other organization. Incidentally, there is no connection between AlterNet and the Wisconsin AFL-CIO.

About jackjodell53

I am an American Dissident trapped in a country where poor and middle class people are constantly being exploited and lied to by a very rigid and conservative plutocratic elite. I believe in government OF, FOR, and BY the people, not one controlled as it now is by corporations and special interests.

  1. Hello Jack,
WOW!!! Loved the Graphics and the Message!! Great Job!! I have gone on the recommended site and done my part.

Well done, Engineer of Knowledge! If EVERYBODY does their part, these ultra-conservative filthy rich oilmen won’t stand a chance. And that’s the way it OUGHTA be!

Love the poster, reminds me of the 60’s stuff for Che! Awesome! Let’s stop the war in Afghanistan, tell Bush to leave now! Wait a minute, who’s president now, Biden? Tell him to leave, and send that money to Wisconsin. Works for me. Right on!

Do elections matter? Agitated protestors who resent losing their privileges didn’t seem to faze the vote on Healthcare. Guess it only matters if it favors your agenda.

    • jackjodell53 says:

Hi hoboduke, and thanks for dropping by! That’s the problem with the Republican :agenda.” It’s not OUR agenda, that’s for sure!

      • hoboduke says:

Take TEA and see the world. The big brother approach of Healthcare rattled a lot of us who had manned the ramparts from the 60’s against the war. Yes, we voted in Nixon to end the war. I don’t see the need for us to treat the world as our private playground with amazing missiles, bombs, and gunboat diplomacy (threat of extinction). I saw the Healthcare process as side stepping the citizens. Guess the town hall meetings had too many complainers, and that didn’t fit their template on pushing us around with the Obama regime.

American citizens have been sidestepped by both parties for many years. NOW is the time for us to make waves!

  3. Gwendolyn H. Barry says:

I’m with you my friend! There is a grassroots May Day event being stirred up across the country. Pinko the Bear (our buddy Brad Holhut on FB – BTR show late nite NV) has the info… great stuff. It’s at the stage of “if you build it, they will come” …. so get on out there and build it! Right? (perhaps I should say Left?) LOL
I’ll repost / splash this every social network I can… you should post it over at RT7!

  4. Why don’t people see that the benefits that they receive in the work place are hard-won benefits gained by the blood, sweat, and tears of those hard-working average American citizens, the laborers, the office worker, the factory worker, etc.

The purpose of business is to make money. Businesses will not give you anything. Your salary, your benefits, your vacations, your sick time, your hours away from the office to eat, sleep, and take care of other business cost them money. They will limit those things all they can. Reducing one persons pay and/or benefits makes it easier for them to reduce or eliminate YOURS.

    Wake up!

    Good post, Jack!

  5. Tom Harper says:

Thank God for AlterNet and Think Progress and other groups who are standing up to the Oligarchy and their congressional prostitutes.

The 1930s isn’t even far back enough for today’s wingtards. The Gilded Age of the late 1800s is their goal. According to the Glenn Beckerheads, Theodore Roosevelt’s reforms were the beginning of the end of this great country.

    • jackjodell53 says:

You’re right. That’s why it is so crucial to keep them out of power! For if you give them an inch, they end up stealing 10,000 more light years!

  6. Lisa G. says:

Russ Feingold’s Progressive Caucus is another way to get involved. He was the progressive Senator from WI for a teabagger. I’m on his email list and he’s sounding mighty pissed off about what is happening to his state and this country.

Jack – love the new look!

    • jackjodell53 says:

Thanks, Lisa G for your comment and that great suggestion! It was TERRIBLE seeing Feingold, an AWESOME Senator, get defeated by a scummy teabagger last fall! I know he’s turned into quite an activist too—there are many good possibilities for us coming up!
